How To Clean Ps4 Blu Ray Lens
Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2018 Verified Purchase I got my PS4 in December of 2016. You never realize just how much dust can affect it...until "it" happens. You go to play a game or watch a movie and it can't read the disk. I thought it was broken. But, after watching some YouTube videos I determined that my lens was dirty. I purchased this cleaning disk, used it and my PS4 is running like the day I purchased it. Before things got really bad, I had to really "fiddle" with it by turning on the PS4, then switching to sleep mode, then turning it back on in order for it to read my game disks. Now, it reads the disk the very first time I turn it on. It even sounds different while its booting up. A few tips... If you have never cleaned your lens before, you may want to try running the cleaning mode between 3 and 5 times to really get the lens clean! This is what I had to do. 1 Con with a fix... I noticed that the cleaning disk would freeze when I selected English as the language. If this happens to you, just select Spanish and it should work. Limpio (or any variation with Limpi in it) is Spanish for "clean". Select the first option when prompted and it will begin cleaning. Even if you're not having problems with your game system, buy this product anyway and use it. It will help your system to read the disk faster for better playback. Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2016 Verified Purchase Note: This review is about the cleaners' effectiveness on an Xbox One & Xbox 360 console. I was a bit skeptical about this item in particular, as I barely have had to use a CD Cleaner in my life. Just recently, I discovered that my Xbox One & 360 weren't reading discs as easily as they should be. Every time I'd insert one, it'd either finally recognize the disc after I'd put it in more times than I'd like, or it wouldn't read the disc at all. Then again, I've owned both consoles for over 3 years. I was expecting for this to happen at some point, even though I do take care of all consoles & games. At any rate, judging from the rating, I decided to give this cleaner a go. Sure enough, it worked. The small brushes on the CD did their job, & gave the laser what it desperately needed. This was tested on multiple games, & it read them all. Highly recommended, & this is coming from a huge gamer! I'll add pictures of the back of the case, as well as what the disc looks like. 5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money & wait. Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2017 Verified Purchase It works well and restored the operation of my expensive blue ray player. My player is not used all that often and built up enough dust that caused it to misread and skip every few minutes on a movie I wanted to watch. After using this disk, the player went back to normal operation and played the movie that was skipping before clean from end to end. Lets be clear, this is just a brush designed to remove dust from the lens of the laser of a Blue Ray player and at that, it is effective. It will not polish a scratched lens or fix a misaligned head. The gap between the laser and the disk on a blue ray player is closer than it is on a CD or DVD so be sure to get the correct cleaning disk for the player you are cleaning. Using a blue ray cleaner on a DVD or CD would be ineffective and may not clean it at all because the bristles on the cleaner are too short and using a CD cleaner on a Blue Ray may cause the roots of the brush to hit the laser and actually damage the player. If dust is the cause of your issues, this disk should fix it in one or two passes and is it doesn't, you probably have other issues that will require a more extensive repair or replacement of the unit. Reviewed in the United States on April 26, 2018 Verified Purchase What most people don't realize is that the physical tolerance (i.e., the distance of the Blu-Ray lens to the surface of the inserted Blu-Ray disk) is very, very small. Add to that the fact that Blu-Ray disks are spun at a high RPM level. This means (and it's hard to think of this) that DUST is a natural enemy to Blu-Ray players, and if dust gets onto the lens, skipping, disk misreads, etc. can start occurring. Most of us DO live in dusty environments, and even small dust particles can, over time, play havoc with your player. If you have a Blu-Ray player that is misbehaving, taking it apart for cleaning is not usually a good option due to these tolerances, and that's where this dust remover comes in. This is a Blu-Ray disk with a set of pivoting brushes embedded within the surface. You insert the disk like you would any other Blu-Ray disk, wait for the screen to come up, and then use your remote to follow the instructions for cleaning. It takes only a minute or two, and then you eject the disk. This is a good quality product, constructed well and with easy-to-follow guidance when you insert the disk. But here's the thing. This MAY or MAY NOT solve your problem. That's not because of a deficiency of this disk, but if you have a serious dust build up, particularly if the dust has become "attached" to the Blu-Ray lens (due to high humidity, cooking fumes, etc.), the dust may be resistant to removal. If that is the case, I recommend you run this two or three times to see if the dust will dislodge. Many people report sucess in using this product, others not, but I believe, from my own experience, that is due to the nature of the dust problem, not the product itself. For me, I look at this as an inexpensive way to TRY to clean your Blu-Ray player to get it to operate correctly before you move on to the much more expensive proposition of buying a new player. In addition, even if it can't get stubborn, stuck-on dust removed, and you are forced to purchase a new player, you still have this disk to use for maintenance. (They recommend using it every 15 hours of play, but I'm not sure I would do that; maybe once every two months or so might be good). It's difficult to objectively rate a product if you buy it and your player still doesn't work, because you are tempted to think the product doesn't work. But again, if you think about the different ways dust can become embedded on a Blu-Ray player's lens, it's easier to more objectively look at the product. I would normally give this a five-star rating, but factoring that little thing that it may not always fix all problems, I'll give it a four. Nevertheless, this is a good quality product that you should probably have in your arsenal, or use to try to rescue a Blu-Ray player before replacing it! IMPORTANT NOTE: Reviews with images

This disk is for BLU-RAY players, *NOT* DVD players. The tolerances between the lens and the disk are far different between these two technologies, and so you CANNOT and SHOULD NOT place this in a DVD player. If you are looking for DVD cleaners, search on Amazon for those, as there are plenty of them available. Top reviews from other countries

I got it yesterday, one cleaning cycle and my BD player is working again! NOT cheap, but it is designed for zero clearance in Bluray players! NEVER use a CD or DVD cleaning disc in a BD player - the brushes don't retract. I bought this as well as a replacement player as double indemnity. Second player works fine, I checked it then boxed it back up and put it away as a spare; my Sonys are basic, but I'm used to them now. I couldn't guarantee it will work for you, but it did for me. It gave me back my first BD player - made my year.

Had been experiencing a few problems with my LG surround sound system. Bought one of these as I thought the lens might need cleaning. It didn't work!
Loaded it in the tray, "check disc" error came up and the player immediately spat it back out again.

Bought this to sort out a Blu Ray Player that had only been used a couple of times and would only show check disc error for all DVDs and Ble Ray Discs. This disc loaded fine and used all the functions on the disc, which are very good. I was able to play one DVD on the player before it showed the check disc error again. I now cant even get this disc to load.
