My friend was heartbroken when she got caught in a downpour with her new Uggs. The boots concluded upwards sodden and stained, and when they stale, they looked so bad that she put them dorsum in the box, and tucked it away in her closet.

She didn't want to pay the $40 the dry cleaners would charge to clean them, and then she never expected to wear them again. But I had an idea—what if I tried to clean the boots in our laundry labs at Reviewed? My friend had basically nothing to lose, because they were unwearable in their current status. And so, she handed them over.

How to launder your Uggs—in five steps

Here'due south all you have to do.

one. Put the boots into a big mesh laundry bag
The idea is to protect the Uggs and contain any escaped fleece.

ii. Place them into the tub of the washing auto.
I used the Samsung FlexWash front-loader in our laundry lab. It's modern and roomy—the washer anybody here likes to use to wash their ain clothes. But y'all tin use any washing car for this.

3. Pour a pocket-size corporeality of clear detergent into the dispenser.
I used All Gratis & Articulate, a perfume- and dye-free detergent. Regular bluish detergent could accept left a stain.

4. Set the cycle to Delicates with a cold water wash and outset the washer.
I also threw in in a few former sheets and towels to cushion the spin, and to make sure the washer ran enough water into the tub.

5. Let them air dry out overnight.

When the load completes, remove the boots from the washing car, and take them out of the bag.

And so, reach in and fluff up the fleece inside the boots. Let your Uggs air dry out overnight.

After washing them, the boots looked nice again, and the insides were soft and fluffy. In this picture, they are near dry, and the color is more uniform.

This technique was an fifty-fifty bigger success than I expected. My friend'south Uggs came out looking clean and fresh, and the fleece within felt soft and fluffy. For the first time in years, they're going dorsum into her wardrobe rotation.

Then, I done my dark-green suede Ugg mocs the same manner—and that worked just likewise.

Obviously, y'all never programme to wear sheepskin boots in the rain, but sometimes you get caught. And after y'all wear any pair of Uggs for a while, they're probably going to finish upwardly looking (and smelling) funky. And so, when this happens to yours, at present y'all know how to make them look cracking once again—without a trip to the dry out cleaners.
